Malcolm Raymond Dunford Mseleku (December 8, 1912-January 1961) was a Zulu poet and storyteller whose works were published in Zulu language journals and newspapers.
He was born in Umzambi in Natal where his father was an evangelist of the American Board Mission. He received his early education at mission school and at Adams’ Training College. In 1936 he earned his teacher’s certificate and then began his teaching career, first at Nhlophenkulu in Nongoma and then at Imkulukeko School. In 1946 he was appointed superintendent of school meals in Drefontein and in 1949 he became superintendent of schools. In 1955 he was promoted to sub-inspector of Bantu Education, a position he held until 1960 when he resigned because of ill health.
Mseleku is the author of two stories, Uvumindaba (The One Who Pretends), published around 1935, and Unkosiyereve also published in the 1930s. Several of his poems, including “Ukwethwasa Kwehlobo” and “Ukuduma Kwezulu”, were published in newspapers and Zulu-language journals.
