Parliamentary Select Committee on Education Pays Working Visit to the Encyclopaedia Africana Project Secretariat

On 9 July 2026, the Encyclopaedia Africana Project (EAP) Secretariat hosted members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, Ghana led by its Chairman, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, for a one-day working visit.
The purpose of the visit was to provide the Committee with first-hand insight into the Secretariat’s current operations, infrastructure needs, and the key challenges affecting the effective delivery of its mandate. The engagement also allowed the Secretariat to brief the Committee on its strategic programmes and ongoing initiatives.
A major focus of the discussions was the forthcoming Encyclopaedia Africana Volume IV, which is being produced under the theme, “Africa’s Contribution to Science, Technology and Innovation.” The Director of the Secretariat, Mr. Christian Dovi, updated the Committee on the progress of the project, including the content development process, editorial preparations, and the expected impact of the publication. He emphasised the long-term educational significance of the volume, noting that it would provide authoritative, evidence-based content to support curriculum reforms in African history of science, STEM education, indigenous technologies, and African knowledge systems across the continent.
On his part, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, commended the Secretariat for its commitment to preserving and promoting Africa’s intellectual heritage. He reaffirmed the Committee’s support for the Secretariat’s educational mission and developmental initiatives. As a demonstration of this commitment, the Committee presented an undisclosed financial donation to support the Secretariat’s operational activities.
The visit concluded on a positive note, strengthening collaboration between the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education and the Encyclopaedia Africana Project Secretariat, while reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing knowledge production, educational development, and Africa’s intellectual legacy.
