C.S. Mabaso (?-1936) was an official of the African National Congress (ANC) in its early years. He was born and educated in Natal, and later worked variously as teacher, shopkeeper, clerk, and possibly goldminer. After teaching briefly in Natal and Swaziland, he set up businesses in Klerksdorp and in Bloemhof in the Transvaal.
Sometime around 1915 he went to Johannesburg to work as a clerk in the Natal Representational Congress (NRC) office. Later, at the request of Pixley Seme, he assumed the posts of bookkeeper and secretary of the ANC newspaper Abantu Batho, remaining with the publication for 20 years. He was a member of the Transvaal Native Organisation before the founding of the ANC, and later served as chairman of the Transvaal ANC. He was much involved in fund raising ventures, particularly the campaign to send the ANC deputation to Britain in 1914. From 1924-27 he served as ANC treasurer general, under the presidency of Z.R. Mahabane.
His last post was as ANC financial secretary in the early 1930s.
